As I was examining the lives of Nigerians in general, I noticed the deplorable situation of young girls. It's obvious norm in Africa that parents place male children on preferential treatment. Even in 2017, this issue is still a reality in certain parts of Africa. In Nigeria, several young girls are discriminated when it comes to education. This matter is a real burden on these young girls who struggle for means of survival which often expose them to all kind of social vices, such as prostitution, unprotected sex, unwanted pregnancy, rape, human trafficking e.t.c.

Some of these innocent girls were confined in an isolated location for the purpose of human reproduction venture.

They were subjected to producing babies who would end up being sold to unknown families. This practice was popularly known as “baby factory” in Nigeria. These victims of sexual exploitation suffer from emotional distress, disorientation, depression and sometimes death.

Despite the fact that the Child Rights Act was specific on rape and other forms of abuses directed at young girls, sexual exploitation still remains very rampant in Nigeria.

All children should have the rights to receive good education, moral support, proper up-bringing, and respect for gender equality.

Thousands of girls are left hapless by their parents or guardians as victims of sex slavery, domestic worker, early marriage, pre-mature mothering e.t.c.

Thus, against AU Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights which promotes personal integrity and the right to live. The beliefs of less value of young girls in the society must change and government, NGO and all stakeholders should rapidly pursue socio-economic development that will be gender inclusive.

We need to build a hopeful life for young girls in Nigeria. It will also be useful to gather a comprehensive data of the victims in order to help track any social reform or re-orientation projects of the government.

Stakeholder should sponsor legislative Bill that will allow and regulate surrogate

mother system. These steps will eventually be valuable to put a final stop to the immoral “baby factor” business.
